City officials got a tour of progress on the Seahawks Training Center in Kennydale earlier today.
It’s an amazing facitlity, that will cost nearly 100 million with land, building and furnishings.
The new facility will allow the team to train and practice year-round. By being so close to Quest field, the Seahawks players and staff can live close to their training site and their playing site, and will get to spend evenings with their families even during the most intense training season… only traveling for away games. And the training facility is the finest in the NFL. Paul Allen and the Seahawks management are going to turn our team into Superbowl champs very soon.
Get a sneak peek at the inside of the facility by clicking below….
This counter is the service counter for equipment (players get their pads and helmets here)
This is the equipment area, where pads, helmets, uniforms, and other gear are kept
The main locker room. It will have an all-wooden ceiling (similar to the wood around the lights. The locker structure is in place, but partially hidden by plastic. Each locker is about 36 inches wide, and contains electrical outlets and other features to provide comfort and convenience for the palyers. These lockers, the workout areas, and the players lounge comprise the personal environment for the players.
Lots of lav faucets line the walls in this part of the locker room
Mechanical room provides filtering, recirculation, heatin, and water-current for a large lap pool, a large hot tub, and a cold tub.
This is the cold tub…there is a hot tub of the same dimensions. (In addition to the large swimming pool, with active current and treadmill floor). There are also well equiped medical rooms at the facility.
The main training room. Weights will be downstairs, and aerobic machines will be on the upper mezzanine (upper left). Players riding bikes will be able to see the practive field
Indoor shot of the wieght room, looking outward through one of the roll-up doors. These doors can be opened on nice days to allow breezy weight training in an indoor/outdoor type environment
Telephoto shot of the practice field…really pulls Mercer Island in
The outdoor architecture of the office side (the south side) of the facility
Three outdoor training fields can be viewed comfortably from the berm on the left. The public will be allowed to reserve viewing times…to see the Seahawks play up-close and personal
Practice field is on the left, weight room (with roll-up doors for nice weather) is on the right, and Mercer Island is across the lake staight ahead. Seahawks owner Paul Allen, a Mercer Island resident, and boat across to check on his team.
Atrriums seperate the indoor practive facility from the office complexes. These will be decorated with Seahawks and NFL banners when the constuction is complete
Front Lobby
Top floor mezzanine of the work-out room… this will have treadmills and work-out bikes
The office for the Head Coach. He leads a staff of eighteen coaches, who each have their own office in the building. The head coaches office is in a corner with both a lake view, and a practive field view. It also has a private bathroom with a shower, so that the coach can prepare for media interviews.
A hospitailty room on the second floor will give VIPs a chance to watch the Seahawks practice with the comforts of a suite
Seahawks general counsel/project coordinater explains a design concept to Mayor Law and Council Liaison Julia Medzegian
Lakeside patio going into place
Seahwaks War Room. This will be where all the secret plays are worked out and posted, then concealed by special boards and locked up when not supervised

Player/staff dining area with a nice lake view
Tractor levels the gravel and dirt on the base of the indoor practive field. Look at how large this machine is, to get a sense of scale of the building in the picture below….
Inside view (from third floor) of the indoor practive field. the dirt floor will be covered with crushed rock, asphalt, rubber, and topped with astro-turf. The tractor in the far corner gives a sense of the size of the building. The building has a clear hieght of nearly 100 ft, and a lenth of 135 yards.

Thanks for the photos..
Interesting place…
Thanks for the photos though.
Is there public access to the waterfront? Or did we just give Paul Allan all the variances he wanted….
Driving south on 405 – you can see how the ball-game hanger puts several houses into almost perpetual shadow. The monolith blocks out the sun from around 9 to 1 p.m. – They’ll get a sliver of sun from about 1 am to 3 p.m – then the sun falls behind Mercer Island.
It’s sad to see such huge volumes of human endeavor go to something like this. I understand the need to be entertained, but still…. is this the best we could come up with? Watching grown men in tights bending over and playing with their leathery ball.
If you asked nicely, you could probably watch that for free somewhere around here.
Re: Thanks for the photos..
I don’t think Paul Allen will boat over when his helicopter would be much faster. 😉
its to bad the exterior wasn’t made from a different material. It looks like a giant warehouse…I thought some stonework would be done on the large section….but it turned out to be a disappointment. 🙁
dual purpose
In the off season it can be a Sam’s Club.
Re: dual purpose
costco. 🙂
Re: dual purpose
Sunday! Sunday!! SUNDAY!!!
LIVE at the Seahawk Training Camp, it’s RENTON MOTOR MADNESS!
Monster Truck crush and jump! Madness Moto Derby – Many will enter only one will leave!
$9 for the whole seat, but you’ll need the EDGE!
That’t pretty impressive – I wonder how much a membership to a gym like that would go for? I really like to roll up doors for the weight room – that’s a great idea!
membership to a gym
Lol. Expensive! I remember when we made the playoffs during the construction and we actually widened then Mike Holmgren’s office nearly doubling the sq as a little added bonus to making it into the playoffs.
btw his locker of kind of big too.
