Obama Wins 3 Primaries for Delegate Lead

Barack Obama powered past Hillary Rodham Clinton in the race for Democratic convention delegates Tuesday on a night of triumph sweetened with outsized primary victories in Maryland, Virginia and the District of Columbia.
“Tonight we’re on our way,” Obama told cheering supporters in Madison, Wis. “But we know how much further we have to go,” he added, celebrating eight straight victories over Clinton, the former first lady now struggling in a race she once commanded.
The Associated Press count of delegates showed Obama with 1,210. Clinton had 1,188, falling behind for the first time since the campaign began. Neither was close to the 2,025 needed to win the nomination.
His victories were by large margins _ he was gaining about 75 percent of the vote in the nation’s capital and nearly two-thirds in Virginia. In Maryland, he was winning close to 60 percent.
By contrast, Clinton was attempting to retool her campaign in the midst of a losing streak. Her deputy campaign manager resigned, the second high-level departure in as many days.

hahaha yay is all i can say!
Hillary is still trying to re-invent herself. She is now trying to look like Margaret Thatcher. I thinks she’s a total nut case. Look back at some of her speeches, she gets that southern phony drawl, talks like she’s MLK, etc. It depends on who she is speaking too. She is so phony! Barack has this one in the bag.
I do not know where to put this but why was your blog on Kathy’s opinion for the presidential election taken off, if you take something off i think it would do a service to everyone that comes one here to let them know why.
Looks like it’s all still on there. The one with the photo of Kathy. The one with the summary comment about her bristling is on there. What are you saying was removed?
I was wondering the same thing too where’d the bristling one go?
Obama
I was on the chiropractor’s table this afternoon, getting my back cracked, when I brought up the presidential election. Now that I think about it, that probably wasn’t too smart as I was in a very vulnerable position and I didn’t have a clue about his political affiliations. He said, “My Dad will probably roll over in his grave, but for the first time in my life I’m not voting Republican. I’ve always voted Republican. I really like McCain, but I’ve decided Obama is best suited for what our country needs right now. And he’s the one candidate that I think truly is how he presents himself.”
It will be interesting to see how the candidates do in the upcoming races. Neither one will be able to win enough delegates to lock up the nomination, so the roll of the super delegates and the convention will be something to watch.

Re: Obama
lol… I’m sure your father would be quite proud of you, no matter who you vote for Elizabeth!
But I understand that there is a significant cross-over vote appearing across the nation right now. There are several stories on the internet about Virgina, and the large number of independents and Republicans that are supporting Obama’s campaign.
It’s hard not to be excited by Obama’s message of optimism, hope, and peace. I think many Americans will respond to this, and Barack Obama could even be the first president in a while that has a true mandate-presidency (with a 65% support, instead of 51 %).
It’s interesting how Clinton and McCaine are trying to slow down his momentum by pointing to some of the truths and hard facts that make it difficult to change things, but this only adds to Obama’s popularity and lead. I think it is because the idea “Yes we can” is so appealing, and one can’t fight back with “No, we can’t.”
Obama’s message is resonating with the American populace right now…. I could see it starting as we went into super-Tuesday. Regardless of where one stands in this election, this is interesting to witness. He also is becoming a “rock-star” quickly overseas… It sounds like the people in Europe and Asia, particularly Japan, really like him. Pretty amazing for someone who was relatively little known a few years ago. We’ll have to see if he keeps his momentum for the next six months…but if he does, he’ll win with a wide margin.
Re: Obama
Dad was always proud of me! I was the only girl with 4 brothers, and Dad always referred to me as the flower in the weed patch. 🙂 Only thing he wished I would have changed was how I pitched the baseball. He didn’t like that little twisting thing I did with my wrist, even though I threw the baseball straighter and harder than any of the guys on our street.
It was my chiropractor that’s the lifetime Republican who was sharing his switch to Obama, and how his Dad might have reacted. Really, it was kind of risky for me to discuss politics as the guy had my head in his hands to do a quick adjustment to my neck (snap crackle pop!)! I’ve always been more Independent and vote for the best person rather than the Party.
I heard last night what I believe may be the new slogan for Obama’s campaign. “The New Majority”…. I like the sound of that!
Re: Obama
ooops… forgot to sign the note above… Elizabeth
Re: Obama
We understand his appeal, but I think once folks get into the election spirit this summer, he rock star status will fade, unless he backs up his “Dr. Phil” fuzzy & warm rhetoric.
Re: Obama
Obama certainly isn’t invincable…
For a “Mike Dukakis Tank”* example: In his quest to get the Latino vote he started using “Si Se Puede / Yes We Can”. Great short-term idea, but stuff like that will kill him in the General election when the United Farm Workers connection is more apparent.
* You young’ens out there, wimpy Mike made the mistake of hopping in a tank in a lame attempt to look strong. The sadnes of the situation helped killed his campaign. More Info: http://monkeyfilter.com/link.php/13032

Forgive me but I’m drunk…. but sweet zombie jesus those girls in the photo are one tweak away from a big O. IF you’re young male in the Democrat party – you better be picking up some of that. Enjoy them before they become bitter.
Re: Fainting at Obama Meetings
Double sweet zombie Jesus, I am also drunk, but it appears Elizabeth is also cought in the “O” zone, by this rhetorical genius!
