As I stated in an earlier entry. If you want the former mayor of Renton running our country, vote for Hillary. Typical, everyone looking for a handout. Please folks, look into the corruption of Hillary before buying into her nonsense. She is not an honest person. If you want to see the whitehouse turned into a frat house, give her your vote, but live with the results. When the celebration is over, hell in the U.S.A begins. I wasn’t wrong about the past mayor, and I’m not wrong about her.
I really liked her at first . I did , then I turned to Edwards, well then he dropped …now my attention has been drawn to Obama I really really hope he gets it!
What is it about the dems that you agree with so much?
Why ??do you agree with Republicans??
because i support the poor and middle class, not some high corp
i support gay rights-marriage-civil union
pro choice
health care
I don’t support war
Many of my beliefs run very in line with democrats.
I support conservative issues. I have nothing against gay people at all. I have friends that are gay and they are great, successful individuals. Two of them adopted children and have provide for them well. I have no problem with a civil union, but not marriage. That is meant for man and woman. I do plenty for the poor on a constant basis, out of my own pocket, not the government’s. Describe what you think is the middle class, how much yearly salary? Why abort a child when there are plenty of people that would adopt? As for health care, look at Britian and Canada. People are dying before they can get seen by a doctor. Show me a few things that government has run successfully. As for war, how do you think we gained our independence? Have you seen the videos of the Iraqi citizens that were getting beheaded, raped, thrown in chippers, and thrown off of two story buildings with their hands tied behind their backs. I’ve seen them and it brings tears to my eyes. The liberal democrats are all about human rights until it’s innocent Iraqis getting their heads taken off. Who was going to step up and help these people. It’s a bigger picture than you think young lady. Do some research on the net and look up these videos. I think you’ll change your mind about war. It’s not about war, it’s about humanity. How about the 2 year old child having both eyes gouged out by Saadam’s henchmen in front of the parents because they thought the father was against Saadam? Yes, the child died. Do some research for your own good. I was naive when I was young. When you look at the facts, you tend to get a different perspective of things, not just what the media reports.
America doesn’t need to save the world, if you ask them they hate us for that. That is the truth.Have friends overseas.
I’ve seen the videos on War, America honestly has our own problems and I wont argue on this we need to stop digging around in others gardens.
Typical selfish liberal. What’s in it for you and don’t worry about others. Print this because in 20 years you’ll see that you were wrong in your thinking. I guarantee that you haven’t seen the Saadam torture videos. You can’t argue because you do not have enough knowledge of the issues, I’ll guarantee you that. You take the easy way out. Go study for your own good and please don’t take that as an insult because it’s not meant to be.
Crystal is not selfish. And I am sure she would not want to allow Saddam’s torture, whether or not she had seen the videos.
But she is pointing out that we can’t fix everything, no matter how hard we try. Other people won’t always accept our help, even when it is sincerely given with the best intentions.
This does not diminish the hard work our soldiers have done to bring democracy to Iraq. Some of the readers of this blog have served in Iraq, and given so much to bring peace and humanity to the region, that they are very worried they will see the rug pulled out. But I don’t think any of the candidates for president really want that either… Obama wants to work with the UN to help the transition to an Iraqi democracy. And he will have to work with Congress to get approval for any significant change in strategy. Even so, it’s understandable to me if some citizens, particularly veterans and others who have been working the Iraq puzzle, would prefer to see McCain elected.
So what Randy, we give up, surrender to those who would do us harm? Change in stragy?! Are you kidding me? The surge is working! Let Obama surrender, will reverse that…. It is time to ignore politics, and do what is right, win!!!
The surge still has done nothing to foment a political solution to the serious issues that still face the Iraqi people. It has reduced the level of violence to the 2004 levels of violence. Is that really working?
No!
] America doesn’t need to save the world,
If you think that… then America doesn’t need to “save the poor” as well.
Do we have an obligation to save others from destruction? If you answer in the afermative, then ask yourself why one and not the other.
] they hate us for that. That is the truth.Have friends overseas.
I’m often overseas and I can tell you that among as small group of psudo-intelectual there is a small wafer-thin shell of hatred that exists that easily cracked. Then the drinking begins and we’re all HAPPY! What you read as hatred, really is more annoyance – hopefully.
If someone *truely* hates America, than that says more about the person with the hatred, than anything you could say about America.
People that hate America: Mao, Stalin, Hitler, Iid Amin, Chavez, Ossama Bin Ladin, Pol Pot, Mugabe.
Iraq is NOT a safer place since we opened the floodgates to terrorists from around the world to come in and fight for various causes. There’s also the issue of sectarian violence, which is totally out of control. Yes, Iraq under Saddam was totalitarian, oppressive, inhumane, and unjust. But we invaded Iraq to eliminate the supposed threat of Saddam’s WMDs, not to nation-build. Now, we’ve only opened entirely new cans of worms for the Iraqis to deal with. During Saddam’s reign, people could at least go to a market without the fear of being killed by a suicide bomber. Is that the case now? Is there any end in sight?
As for healthcare in Britain and Canada, it’s you who need to do some research. People are not dying due to lack of care, and I challenge you to prove otherwise. In America, though, people are definitely suffering severely due to lack of of access to healthcare. Even those of us with insurance aren’t getting the best care. I just found out that I need to have my wisdom teeth removed in order to prevent potentially serious jaw complications. Great, no problem… I make a good salary and have good dental insurance. Well, except for the $2,000 deductible for oral surgery. Why do I even have dental insurance? I’m going to have to go into debt to pay for something that should be covered. Would that happen in Canada or the UK. NO, it would not. Do a little research of your own.
Why should it be covered? I pay for my dental work too. I am right about Canada and Britain, so you go do your research, I already did mine and I’m right. You are also wrong on Iraq. Take a look at UN resolution 1441, I think. Deaths are down 82% in Iraq. You just like to dwell on the negative. And by the way, the UN acknowledged the WMD and document them in the years prior. He used them on the Kurds. Do you think they just evaporated?
Actually, the special inspector president Bush appointed concluded that the WMD was disposed of during the initial inspections following Desert Storm despite the intelligence reports. Yet even the intelligence reports following the ousting of inspectors were no were near unanimous in their assessment of Iraqi WMD and you had as many stating that there was no imminent threat as that claimed.
And your statement that deaths are down 82% in Iraq, what is the source? From what time period to what time period? You talk a lot but it seems that you are just pulling stuff out to impressed with your distortion of facts and figures that are incorrect.
Again, on the issue of health care, you are still wrong as if you were to look at the stats of those who are covered and the access to basic preventive medicine the actual health stats of both Britain and Canada far exceed that of the US, especially when you consider those under HMOs or under no insurance at all. But I guess since you are rich enough to afford your own you can morally ignore the rest of your brothers and sisters in this country that struggle and suffer because people like you follow false facts. I guess we should put you on the ad council for the pharm companies since your the fricking posterchild of stupid conservative ideology.
ugh, I’m Jack’s raging bowl duct!
Woo hoo! Thanks for jumping in so splendidy, taintedrealist.
It is interesting that you tell Crystal to do research as it is obvious from your post that you are clearly mistaken about so many things! And I would suggest that you stop reading the National Review or watching Fox news as your primary sources of information. Instead you might want to learns some simple methodologies of research and analysis and then you might think differently because you could conduct your own analysis. Yet, I think that that is a lot to ask considering you absolute faith in your ideals no matter how distorted or misinformed they are.
First of all, one of the primary issue that has become the base of the republican platform has been about the marginalization of the gay population here in America and you call yourself a friend of gays, sounds pretty hypocritical and I’m surprised that these so-called gay people would consider you a friend. Likewise, the issue of abortion and free-choice or pro-life is missing the point that many women lost there lives during the prohibition of abortion. BTW, if an organism can’t live without support it is not self-sufficient and many scientist would argue that life is based upon the ability to be self-sufficient in survival, and this is basic biology.
Sorry, but your mystical notions of life at conception don’t fit the science, rip that thing out and it ceases to exist (I’m sorry to be so callus but I’m trying to remind people of their basic classes in biology. Now that doesn’t mean I would support such procedures considering the term of a pregnancy and the ability of the fetus to survive under normal environmental circumstances, but to make assertions that abortion is wrong with a big universal quantifier misses the complexity of the issue. And faith in an issue denotes the inability to engage in a logical discussion about facts.
Secondly, you say you support conservative values. Well, if you have taken the time to study yourself, you would take a look at the annual Presidents Economic Report which lists a whole load of stats for your conservative mind. Now, one of the ideals of conservative governance and the basis of their fiscal policy is to reduce the size of spending, government expenditure, balance budgets and the like, but if you look at the reports issued by our own economic advisors as commissioned by the president himself you would see that every Republican president has incurred deficit spending and has actually exponentially increased the national debt. Now, if you look at the record of all Democrat presidents since the time of Roosevelt you would see that we actually had less deficit spending and where able to cut into the American debt. NO REPUBLICAN PRESEIDENT can claim such a record despite their party platform. They have overspent, colluded with corporate powers and engaged in a myriad of economically oppressive series of war (note: latin america, history and it is our history of economic colonialism). If we want to talk about conservatives we can extend this argument of corporate collusion and look at Cheney’s dealing with the various energy conglomerates in the US who sought to determine a national energy policy, or your conservative values of outing CIA operatives, conducting torture against unconvinced terrorists (even though we helped draft the Human Rights Deceleration). Sorry, guy, but you party is a bunch of hypocrites and are counter to the real ideals of America.
Now, no one is saying that Saddam was some great guy. I see nothing of that in Crystals comments, but we have an international system that WE the U.S. established call the UN Security Council post WWII and we devised the rules of engagement, along with the prescriptions for human rights, international adjudication and the protection of sovereignty based upon the Westphalia system established after the religious wars of Europe.
Now, if you recall we were debating the issue of giving Saddam another 30 days to allow inspectors full access (remember the pretext for war was not the humanitarian issues you claim but the presence of WMD and the imminent threat to national security) and even the French had agreed with this 30 day stay of execution before invasion in order to ascertain the existence of WMD, yet we snubbed the French and went in anyway. The French did say they would support military action after the 30 day period was over if Saddam was to show continued resistance to the inspection process. We ignored that and in our haste we entered into a conflict. Without the support of the international system that we had helped erect
BTW, Saddam was never associated with Al’Queda but obviously you aren’t schooled in history or have a bad case of selective memory, but you associate Saddam with terrorists and you are fundamentally wrong and even the CIA would call you ill-informed. In fact the CIA on numerous occasions questioned the rationale for war. The conservative apparatus lied and to me that is a treasonable offense!
The government is supposed to be representation of the electorate not some stupid cowboy with an agenda!
BTW, people in the US die everyday due substandard health care availability, ever look at the Human Development Report presented by the UNDP, all the countries with socialized health care have the best health standards and we are ranked near the 20th out of all so-call developed countries. Do you really think this is acceptable? I think it is morally abhorrent that the most wealth in all the world can’t be number 1 when it is left to Finland Norway and Sweden to figure out how to promote growth and provide health for the people.
Seriously what is an economy for? Just to make wealth and continually increase it at the expense of your citizens and on the backs of other developing countries?
Ummm, no! It is about providing the means for society to realize the benefits of growth and development which means, education, health, freedom of fear of war, political participation and so on! The economy is meant to provide a means to an end, not be an end unto itself. Otherwise we are all just cogs in someone else wheel.
]but you associate Saddam with terrorists and you are fundamentally wrong and even the CIA would call you ill-informed.
Saddam brutally tortured and killed thousands of his own citizens. Is that not terrorism?
In your little world, is that “Happy FUN time DEATH”?
While you don’t have the courage to directly call the previous poster “ill-informed” and can only do it from the skirts of your pretend CIA that magically agrees with you, I will leave in my mind what I would call your opinion.
I wouldn’t want to upset you, if you don’t think gang-rape and starvation is torture.
Please stay away from me.
Abortion
So, you are against late term abortions where the fetus is capable of surviving outside the mother’s womb?
Re: Abortion
Yes I am. I know that might anger some Dems, but that is my take.
Re: Abortion
Glad to hear it!
Is that our former mayor and her campaign manager there? Hmm…
I know who I’m *not* voting for — if Bill’s Wife has *her* support, then she’s not for me.
Taint….
Lets call a spade a spade, you hate America, you line up on the side of a murderous dictator, you root for the deaths of inocents in Iraq to prove your “blame America” mentality. Damn you, that though process is dangerous….
I don’t hate America, I love my country I just hate, uneducated, stupid people Like you that make my country look like a bunch of fascist pigs trying to rule the world!
Go back to school! take a couple of poli sci classes and get in enrolled in basic biology class. Stop spreading your disgusting faith based crap on everyone else that doesn’t agree with your morally abhorrent ideals!
Jeeze, I guess we should have been prosecuted for being vicious for the mass murder of hundreds of thousands of Japanese during WWII when we incinerated two major metropolitan cities?
I mean that makes sense according to your logic. I guess you are the one that hates America.
Can’t have it both ways. We call that a logical fallacy, go look that one up! Because you have that all over the place!
]I just hate, uneducated, stupid people
Be careful, you might end up hating your friends and family.
For someone who professed to be educated, and attempts to lord over those who are don’t have the same trust-fund benefit, you certainly have a lot of grammatical mistakes in your diatribe.
I’ll leave you to pontificate your English 101 errors, but I will say that “bunch of fascist pigs” is either a mixed metaphor or is just stupid.
Bananas come in bunches, pigs come in herds.
Funny how all you can do is argue with is my grammar, and yet, you fail to address any of the points that I make which simply shows that your ideals are based upon faith, and not on any sort of actual fact.. Thats what people do when they lack a real command of the issues, they attack the form.
That unfortunately, is the worst type of stance as it leaves no space for reality and all conversations spiral into empty nothings.
BTW, my family is pretty smart, loving and compassionate, obviously more than anyone could say about you.
I’m not arguing with your grammar, I’m pointing out the irony of one who espoused in others the very same thing they lack: an education.
I admit it was as you describe – It’s called an ad-hominem attack. And the fact that you couldn’t name is casts doubts on the quality of said education.
The fact that you can’t see the irony is interesting – it was *you* that initially attacked the previous poster as lacking in an education, your reply was in itself and ad-hominem attack
I suggest that your turn your accusatory mirror on yourself and perhaps take your own medicine.
For one who espoused that others need to go to school, you might want to retake your English classes. Your lack of discipline in them is showing and doesn’t help your cause as someone who should command others to educate themselves.
I’ll leave you to your studies.
You tell the person to go back to school… that would require them to be older than 16 to begin with. Their language skills are developed, but critical thinking and social skills aren’t.
It’s best not to feed trolls… just send them to Fremont to visit their giant relative, and they can see what the folks over there have to say about the political views expressed here. 🙂
BTW, spade a spade? I don’t really enjoy your racist remarks!
I’m not religious, but JESUS YOU’RE IGNORANT! Especially for someone who professed to be well-schooled.
In old english, from badly translated Erasmus:
“Philippus aunswered, that the Macedonians wer feloes of no fyne witte in their termes but altogether grosse, clubbyshe, and rusticall, as they whiche had not the witte to calle a spade by any other name then a spade.”
From wikipedia:
The phrase predates the use of the word “spade” as an ethnic slur, which
was not recorded in usage until 1928.
1928? It is 2008! It has been an ethnic slur for a while.
If your illiteracy, in the classical sense, doesn’t allow for you to recognize the common phrase of a “calling a spade a spade” than I can’t help you.
However, please don’t erroneously accuse people of being racists based on your own educational shortcomings.
taintedrealist, I believe you’re currently engaged with the now-infamous “Rationale Person,” [sic] who is, I believe, two people (a good cop, bad cop husband and wife team). They certainly know how to push people’s buttons — doing so seems to be their modus operandi. The wife inevitably negates any reasonable statements made by the husband by spouting off outrageous and defamatory accusations (“you hate America!). They also like to reuse phrases like, “you’re making an ad hominem attack,” which makes their postings easy to identify. Not to mention the wife’s judicious use of exclamation points!!! Just don’t let these reactionary vampires suck the life out of you. Actually, let me restate that: I had some good discussions with the husband. It’s the wife who’s the vampire.
If you haven’t already done so, I invite you to read all the comments on my blog from last year at rentonfacts.blogspot.com. They’re guaranteed to elevate your blood pressure, but they’re pretty entertaining at times. Example “Bwack, bwack, litmus test, litmus test!”
Kevin
ho hum
Trolls and their Faux-Riley “verbiage”: BOR-ING, and a waste of energy to debate them. They can’t even carry on a Rationale conversation.
Re: ho hum
I wish I didn’t feel the need to take their bait. It is fun sometimes, though.
Re: ho hum
It’s not like you’ll ever change their tiny minds, anyway.
Re: ho hum
I’m the one who called out the previous poster for leveling the serious accusation of racism base solely on the fact that they never read the phrase “calling a spade a spade”. The very same person, who also admonished another poster to “go to school.”
Where I come from, you don’t get to call people racists without good evidence, and the scant evidence that was presented was based off of ignorance. For example here’s a *RAGING FEMENIST* website that uses this common phrase:
http://www.feministe.us/blog/archives/2006/10/16/calling-a-spade-a-spade/
The race baiting behavior was not good or honorable! If someone were to accuse me of being racist, those would be “fighting words”
I come from a long line of Republicans – we’re the party of Lincoln and I do take that seriously.
As for being on some sort of uber-renton conspiracy, you’re looking for someone else. But that’s not pertinent to this discussion. The phrase “ad-hominum” is used in Logic 101 – and the concept is worth knowing the label. It means, in Latin, “To the Man”. Basically, instead of attacking the ideas, you attack the person.
As for an extended vocabulary – I don’t just others by their words, only their meaning. If I was judgmental about bad english – I couldn’t very well live in Renton could I. 🙂
But my dander got up when that pompous twit started brandishing the word “racist” like a little child.
He needed a ‘learning. I freely admit that I sunk to his level – but to be honest, rolling with the pigs in the mud can be fun!
😉
Take care! You’re certainly reasonable and I enjoy your comments!
(I hope “rolling with the pigs” doesn’t get me labeled as a beastophiliac by “the professor”)
Re: ho hum
Kevin, you are way to easy to get on the hook. I’m glad my fishing license is still valid. You libs are easy bait. You guys buy into anything if sounds good. Forget about the facts of the matters at hand. You need to back off the daytime soaps and tune in to some fair and balanced Fox news. You libs think Fox is right wing, but they have as many libs as conservatives on when they discuss the issues. The mainstream media is dropping and Fox is excelling in ratings. The drive by media has never been challenged. Now that they are, they don’t know what to do. People want to see the truth, not a bunch of gobbledygook.
Re: ho hum
one word: cuckoo!
Re: ho hum
Oh, don’t be so hard on yourself. Quit calling yourself childish names. You’re not cuckoo, your just plain liberal.
Re: ho hum
How about if you start adding to your real name to your posts? I think we’d all like to know who this new Ann Coulter is within our midst. Is your adam’s apple as large as hers?

]Trolls and their Faux-Riley “verbiage”: BOR-ING, and a waste of energy to debate them. They can’t even carry on a Rationale conversation.
Whoever posted this, please stop.
If your a conservative trying to make our liberal friend look stupid – the effort isn’t subtle enough.
If your a liberal, your too dim to realize it irony of spewing a phrase like “Faux-Riley” because you heard it on an old “Air America” broadcast and in the next word accuse others of regurgitating pat verbiage….. well… words fail me and you’ve driven me killing babies again.
Either way, please stop.
Kevin, that was not me!!!!!
My mistake. But the three of you might want to go out for coffee sometime!
I’m right there….
I’m right about where Hillary is reaching in that photo…
She may even be reaching for my hand. 🙂
I recognize the lady in the grey cap, and Kathy and her manager standing nearby.
Who took this picture?
Re: I’m right there….
Typical liberal, looking for a handout. The only thing hand out is a lot of corruption.
Re: I’m right there….
Seems to me that over the last 7 years, the biggest recipients of handouts have been the government contractors doing work in Iraq and elsewhere, with little oversight. Talk about corruption.
Re: I’m right there….
Tell me one company on the globe other than Halliburton that can do the job they do. They have been used in every administration since Johnson. They are the only company with the assets and infrastructure. Wow, this is quite the fact free liberal lovefest.
Re: I’m right there….
Actually, I wasn’t referring to Halliburton at all (although its subsidiary, KBR, has cost taxpayers millions in fraudulent charges). I was referring to all the lesser-known firms (and entrepreneurs) that descended on Iraq after the occupation began in order to secure a piece of the reconstruction pie. The lack of effective oversight and accountability with regard to reconstruction contracts has been astounding. Tens of billions of dollars have even been given to foreign companies that have yet to be identified. Contracts have been awarded to firms with no prior experience with construction, security, or logistics. Contracts have also been handed out to firms purely for their political connections to the Bush administration. Coupled with rampant corruption within the fledgling Iraqi government, some people are saying we’re lucky if half the money we’ve spent on contracts (hundreds of billions) has been properly spent. This is not some “liberal” conspiracy theory — the situation is well-documented, even by the US government.
And Republicans like to talk about fiscal responsibility.
Re: I’m right there….
I agree Kevin, the oversight on these projects is terrible. So much money is just up and disappearing. This is government at it’s best. This is one of the reasons we are being overtaxed. Just think about how well we can do with some fiscal responsibility? And I am speaking as a conservative. I am disappointed with both parties do to the lack of accomplishment in congress. I don’t see it changing any time soon. Just take a look at some of the stupid bills being put forward in our own state. It’s a total waste of time. Hb2456 is in regards to a geoduck tax for crying out loud.
