Gary Palmer captured these great pictures from our first council meeting.
The first picture is the council and new mayor, as we posed for our official photo. The second is a shot of the crowd that was present for the meeting and the ceremony.
There are several dignitaries in the audience, including State Attorney General Rob McKenna (who swore in Denis Law).
I really like these photos. Unfortunately, the council portrait will be out-of-date in a month, when we add our seventh member…so we will have to re-shoot it at that time.
The photos can be enlarged by clicking on them. If you see yourself in the audience, and you are not too shy, let me know in the comment section below!
Where’s Waldo?
Those are great shots!! Fun time that night!!

King Parker’s glare of doom has stolen my soul!
Oaths of Office
It would be nice for the mayor and council members, especially King Parker, to actually take their Oaths to uphold the Constitution seriously. And I’m referring to the First Amendment right of free speech and the right to petition government. That means that they would never let a citizen stand at the podium “on the record” of the city council and attempt to get the council to ignore another citizen whose political views he/she doesn’t like. That is taking away that maligned’s citizen’s right to petition government. The person at the podium has a First Amendment right as long as it doesn’t impose on the First Amendment rights of another. No mayor acting as the chairman of the city council meetings should allow ad hominem attacks–that is not city business and has no place taking up precious time.
So how about it, King? Do you need a little pocket version of the Constitution?
Re: Oaths of Office
What the hell are you talking about?

When you make your tin-foil hat, be sure the shiny side is facing out. The mind rays will bounce off better.
Re: Oaths of Office
No, but you do.
Article 1, Section 8
[list of various powers of Congress]
To make all Laws which shall be necessary and proper for carrying into Execution the foregoing Powers, and all other Powers vested by this Constitution in the Government of the United States, or in any Department or Officer thereof.
You better lay of the sauce. You made about as much sense as Ted Kennedy’s explanation of the Chappaquidick incident. What the heck are you talking about? You have a diverse council from both political parties. Is that you Dan? Or Kathy?
Tinfoil hat? Really, who else could it be?
