Merry Christmas!!! It looks like you are having a fabulous time!
what’s the brew of choice?
With all these good seasonal winter microbrews, please don’t tell me it’s “birch beer” or some kind of sassparilla!
Thank you Randy
Because of the ineptitude of the city council, here I sit in my living room on Christmas morning listening to construction noise. When is the council going to get it right and give back the Holidays to the families that work so hard during the year. How about taking time out of your busy schedule this morning, come over to my house and we can sit for awhile and listen to hammers banging out jingle bells.
Somebody is doing construction on Christmas Day?
I would come check it out, but I don’t know who you are.
If they are using union workers, they must be paying a fortune for employing people on Christmas Day.
Dear Randy
I sincerely believe you would have. I have decided to present my case to the city council on the 7th. The police department told me on labor day that it was legal to work that day because it did not fall on a Sunday. If you were to google other municipalities about construction start and stop time, you find that Renton is way behind the curve on this. As we all know California is way ahead of us in the building boom, They go so far as to force builders to post those hours and state what days they can and can not work. I have a great one to show council. Look, I have lost a lot of sleep for my child and for wife and myself. I for saw the construction but I did not for see the abuse of the builder, you will have to excuse my anger. I have two builders and six 4000 sq. ft. homes to endure. The other builder already began work at 7:00 am on Saturday. With out help I see it getting worse not better. Please take a chance, give yourself and me the opportunity to talk about what could work better for everyone.
Thank you for replying today, I hope you had a nice holiday.

Disconnect….
Randy,
There’s almost a disconnect between some of the city departments and the council. Or there’s something else wrong in some of the departments.
I can see that now you know about the poor gentleman’s plight about the noise that something will get done, but the department that’s responsible never escalated or took care of the problem themselves.
I’ve sent in several problems to the building department about shoddy construction, non ADA sidewalks being put into the Landing etc and it nothing ever gets acted on. I bet you if I brought up the non ADA compliant sidewalks in a council meeting that the problem would get acted on – but it shouldn’t have to go that far.
Someone at the building department isn’t doing their job – we shouldn’t have to go directly to the council to get reasonable things taken care of.
Thanks again for your website, and for doing a good job given the restraints you have!
Re: Disconnect….
That has been a problem for years, in my experience. The city council is kept in the dark as much as possible, and bringing information to the attention of city officials is like throwing it down a mineshaft. The construction companies’ applecart is never upset, no matter what. The council members don’t have time to ferret out every controversy in the building department, but maybe the new administration will do a better job of keeping their ear(s) to the ground, so to speak. There needs to be a better process for information sharing between the two groups.
funny!
You are joking, right? Not only is it highly unlikely that they are using union workers, it is almost as unlikely that they speak English. I am not an anti-immigrant zealot, by the way, but I do work in the construction business, and that’s just the reality.
