Dear Rentonites-
The Washington Association of Sheriffs and Police Chiefs would like your input about gangs.
You have an opportunity to provide testimony on Monday, December 10th, from 6:00-8:00 PM, at 10910 8th Ave South, in Burien. Your input will be used to help form strategies and policy regarding gangs and gang-violence. Your observations from Renton (whether positive or negative) would be of assistance to this team.
As an alternative, you can print the form below, and mail in your input to the team.
Here is the email I recieved on this topic, with an invitation for YOU, the community of Renton (and other South King County communities)
Thanks,
Randy

Sheriffs, Police Chiefs, Puget Sound Area Legislators, Local Elected Officials and Dignitaries:
As you may already know, the Washington Association of Sheriffs and Police Chiefs was tasked by the Legislature to convene a work group to study and make recommendations to the Legislature regarding gangs and gang-related violence.
The Work Group will hold its sixth (and last) meeting in Burien on December 10 and 11. As part of its meeting, the Work Group will host a Community Meeting to invite the public to come in and discuss the problem of gangs as they see it – the problem, the cause and the solution. The Community Meeting will be on Monday, December 11 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM in the Yourmark Meeting Room at the Puget Sound Skill Center, located at 10810 8th Avenue South in Burien.
I send you this email first as a courtesy to let you know that we plan to be in your community, but also to ask for your help letting your community know about our Community Meeting. I have attached a few documents relating to the Work Group and the meeting for your information.
I am hoping that your resources and contacts, individually and collectively, will help us let folks know about the Community Meeting and invite them to come and participate. Please also distribute this information throughout communities of color.
You are, of course, welcome to attend any of the meetings that the Work Group has. The agenda is also attached. All meetings of the Work Group are open to the public.
Please let me know if there is any additional information that I can provide.
Thank you in advance for your assistance.
-James

Definition of gang a group of three or more people so remember that when you guys comment on this because a group of three white kids is the same as a group of three black kids so don’t jump to the conclusion that three black kids are up to trouble and three white kids aren’t. I see that all over these boards.
