Update:
I’ve added the link to the article. I also wanted to add that I disagree with Mayor Keolker in the strongest terms regarding her characterization of the Highlands being the fault of the city council. (I think Dean Radford did a good job reporting on Mayor Keolker’s comments, but I don’t agree with her comments. ) It has been well established that I wanted action on the highlands, but with public input. I especially wanted input from the rightful owners of the property we were discussing, as well as the residents in the immediate area. You can read more about the highlands history by clicking here.
Also, I am surprised that she is now denying that she wanted to use the pavilion building for a carousel horse museum. She promoted this idea to the council, and even took a trip to Oregon to work on the details with a company that owned the wooden horses (as was mentioned in a comment below). The idea was quaint, but too expensive, as it would have required a city subsidy in setting it up and running it. Council also doubted whether such a museum could retain popularity unless it had a lot of operational and fresh attractions. So the council eagerly supported Eric Temple’s Event Center proposal, and the mayor was upset by this.
Original entry:
There is a very detailed, comprehensive story about the mayor’s race in the Saturday Renton Reporter (I got my copy delivered tonight). I was impressed by the amount of information Dean Radford managed to cover in the two full pages. The photos are good too. There is a lot there to digest and comment on. Here is the Link.
Meanwhile, I would love to start getting your reaction to it….please let everyone know what you think about the coverage.
kindly leave your comments below!
Thanks,
Randy
Hey, how come you get early delivery?
Any other campaign-related news or letters to the editor in the paper? 😉
Not that it matters . . . .
. . . . since the election is in a week or so, but there are places around town where they put the RR in a paperbox the day before delivery. I always get my early editions the day before from the box in front of the Renton Post Office.
And yes, there are some letters to the editor about Madam Mayor, Denis, TP and an anti-Haskins letter by my good friend, Ed Prince.
Re: Not that it matters . . . .
I’m driving down to get one right now!
Re: Not that it matters . . . .
Thank you, Ed Prince, for the superbly written letter in opposition to Cheryl Haskins’ candidacy and in support of King Parker. Wow.
Renton Reporter’s Article
For anyone that is still undecided, take the Renton Reporter article along with Friday’s Seattle Times article and match them to the mailers, ads and other information you have received from both candidates. You will see a clear pattern:
Everything Madam Keolker says is a misrepresentation, outright lie or some sort of excuse for her poor performance as mayor;
Everything Denis says and does is open, truthful and an example of his leadership.

Renton Reporter on Mayor’s race – Keolker twists the story
The two page article in the Renton Reporter newspaper today gave Kathy Keolker an opportunity to comment on many issues with unions and partnerships. While not city council members or city employees many of us are close enough to the topics written and peeple involved to know the truth.
1. Eric Temple’s statement about Kathy telling him not to bring his proposal forward – Eric’s statement is true and Kathy’s statement is not true. Eric Temple’s Spirit of Washington Event Center has been a big success for this city as an ideal venue for many business meetings, community events, and family reception events.
2. Kathy’s statement that she did not like or want a carousel museum is not true. She even took a trip to Oregon to see that carousel museum. A carousel museum would probably have been costly to the city and not bring in revenues for that site.
3. Any community leaders joining her on trips or meetings to market Renton have done so because they are interested in Renton’s success not because Kathy’s is the mayor.
4. I can tell you with absolute first hand knowledge that Denis Law did not become a council member four years ago to run against Kathy Keolker. His objective was to work with council and the mayor for Renton. Kathy created the divisiveness, lack of communication, lack of leadership, and lack of management that brought Denis and so many others to his decision made in 2006 to run for mayor.
Now I am even more disappointed with the twisted statements the current mayor has made.
False Advertising
Can a political candidate running for office be charged with false advertising by using a photo that no longer resembles them? Kathy needs to use a current photo!
