Written by Susan Bressler of the Renton Patch informs us that RTC is closing its Child Care Center. This center provides care for young children of parent-students who are attending classes, and the center provides a place for students in RTC’s Childhood Education Program (who are training for careers in child care and education) to get practical experience. This facility has also hosted parenting classes for area residents through the years.
I’m sorry to see this valuable facility close. My wife attended classes with our children at this center, and my son Kenny worked at the center caring for children while he was an RTC student.

It seems rather shortsighted to close it over such a small budgetary shortfall. If 70 families were using it, then charging each a measly $20 a day would have covered the expense – though I have no idea how much they were already paying.
