Another freshly-minted 737 leaves Renton for Boeing Field
How cool is this!? MSNBC has chosen Boeing, our city’s largest employer, and our own Renton factory as a shining example of American business staying on top. We are extremely fortunate to have Boeing in our region and our city. I’m lucky to work there.
Here is the MSNBC story . Be sure to watch the video– there is some great footage of the inside of the factory.
In this journal entry I roughly estimated that from a value standpoint, typical Renton airplane production compares to making about 2,500 new cars per day. And the existing 737 backlog, not counting future orders, extends for about 7 years. This highly successful factory, squeezed between the Landing, Lake Washington and the Renton Airport, pumps billions of dollars into our local economy.
For how much longer? Will the follow on to 737 be build in Renton if the union keeps up its tactic?

Yeah, that worthless union is causing nothing but problems. Look at the short strike (less then 2 months), it caused the 787 to be 2 years late and now they have to stop production. Again must be that terrible union that has made the Boeing company what it is today.
That’s interesting you bring that up, no one, including Boeing, ever claimed the strike were responible for the delay. I’m sure they learned about what can be fixed for the next jet design due to the 787 process. The union issue, however, is a deeper and wider problem than just one new product.
Like GM, the union isn’t solely to blame but one can’t rationally claim the union work rule and attitude have ever made US companies more competitive. You don’t have to believe me, just read (or try to lift) the union rule book. The very sad thing is, in the end, there is no job security when a company fails.

Sorry, have to disagree with you. The Boeing Company did come out and say that the delay was caused by the Union’s strike, also on top of that every time there is a strike at Boeing it is because the company wants it, that is so they can blame the Union when in fact the problem is by not being able to deliver airplanes on time for whatever reason prior to any strike being called. Take a look at the contracts after a stike, they are pretty much the same thing they just moved the money around so it looks like the stike made a difference.
the union needs to go. they are too greedy.
Yeah and the company is made of saints.
please
Yeah lets get rid of unions so we can be paid crap, work way overtime with no pay, and have no added on benefits(sarcasm). Geez, the comments on here are from doomsday naysayers. Thank a union for your 40 hrs a week 8 hr shifts and fair pay. Otherwise we would all still be worked like a dog.
Great story from MSNBC.
Re: please

You made some nice points there. I did a search on the subject matter and found mainly people will consent with your blog.
