In my blog entry of November 30, I provided documents describing King County’s anticipated purchase of the former Renton Red Lion Hotel. The documents show the County was choosing to purchase the damaged hotel instead of repairing it to save cost. Their future plans for the building and the site were not revealed.
That purchase was recently completed, and the questions have not been answered regarding their intended use for the property.
Here is a news story announcing the purchase.
Is the City going to be able to control what King County uses this building for or did the county get the State blessing to do as they want?
Great question Dave. King County will likely assert that they have unilateral control over it. They have not partnered with Renton yet on this vital gateway to Renton. Through their agents they operated the building as a fire hazard against the better judgement and warnings of Renton’s fire marshal, and they’ve now left it derelict and improperly secured for months in violation of Renton’s code. HB 2474 is currently being developed in the legislature specifically to further restrain cities from managing the location, size and operational guidelines of supportive housing facilities in their communities. Here is an article written yesterday on this topic. https://www.anacortesnow.com/news/discover/5281-cities-failing-to-permit-housing-for-homeless-people-could-soon-see-tax-dollars-withheld
I believe the actions of the state are following along with KC and one of the big reasons I believe that annexing to Renton was a good choice.
I’m happy you conservatives are going to have to take a fair share of Seattle’s homeless. Stop complaining and be part of the solution.
Let me guess, you live in a house daddy bought for you.
When you left Seattle for your daddy’s Renton house, you were supposed to leave your Seattle nonsense behind.
Did Carmen’s daddy give her a house?
Yep! In 2018. That’s why she moved from Seattle to Renton.
All you conservatives! We’re going after the Chamber Of Commerce and we’re going to shut it down.
Socialist Renton!
Thanks Kim Van, Ryan McIrvin, and Carmen Rivera for your support in shutting down the Chamber of Commerce gets from Renton.
Socialist Renton!
So you’re a terrorist group now? Going after our city’s chamber of commerce does what to help our struggling businesses? Especially now that you’ve gotten your deadbeat soldiers to vote how you wackadoodles want. Renton owned businesses are going to suffer and you will be responsible for their demise.
I’ve never lived in a city where 3 members of council are so entitled, vicious and vile that you don’t care that you are ruining the city you represent by “going after” the people in this city that you personally don’t like and have a vendetta against and try to take down an entire city of commerce to get back at them.
Just remember everyone in Renton knows where you teach and could do the same to you. Not so fun now is it?
Hiding under anonymous is dumb at this point. Just own your strong beliefs.
Great job Carmen and your little witches coven. Going after anyone who hurts your tiny little feelings.
Your threats don’t scare us! To have people like you against us gives us courage!
We support Guillermo Zazueta and council members Carmen, Ryan, and Kim Van to go after the Renton “Chamber of Commerce.”
Socialist Renton!
