Written by I wonder who made this addition to Wikipedia. The council was neutral on this annexation (which was defeated by the voters two to one), and the entry misleadingly implies that the annexation would have improved the financial well-being of our city.

Throughout the past 5 years, Renton has worked hard to shed its image as a blue collar city that is stuck in the past. Today, many new housing and retail developments are currently under constuction or are in the early planning stages. The city has attracted big names throughout the years such as Boeing, Ikea, Kenworth, the Federal Reserve Bank, Seattle Seahawks Headquarters and the proposed new Seattle Sonics arena. The downtown core has seen the biggest impact of revitalization throughout the past few years, as a new transit center was constructed as well as many high-end condominiums and a farmers market. The biggest development in city history is currently under construction along the south shores of Lake Washington near Boeing. Known as “The Landing”, this 68-acre urban development will bring many new restaurants and retailers to the city. The Plateau would just add a bunch of working class people anyway, so it wouldn’t seem to fit the “stakeholders vision” for the City’s future (a vision in which the only poor people left in Renton are coming from Auburn to clean their high-end developments and work in their high-end restaurants.)

you think they are high end developments?. now that is curious to me too. have you analyzed it? that would be good if you did because you would be one of only a few that have. you should have said that they are probably moving to Auburn to get a minimum wage job. that is my analysis. can you flip a burger of make a sub? Auburn would be good, or maybe your good at b.s.? then maybe try bellevue instead.

It is true the tax base would have increased, but so would expenditures to provde services to that area. It isn’t implying anything about the fiscal well-being of the city.
