Three generations of my family love these sci-fi, gaming, and pop-culture events, and we have put together some elaborate cosplay costumes (dressing up as favorite characters in the past. I love how more of these conventions have been held in Renton in recent years. We don’t have to deal with Seattle’s traffic or parking challenges, and out-of-towners can discover Renton’s great hotels and restaurants.
Marcel Bower of Renton City Retro sent me this description of their upcoming May 13-14 event in Renton’s downtown Pavilion event center:
If you’re a fan of all things retro, then Renton City Retro is the event for you! This annual event brings together everything from classic video games to your favorite pop culture items, and this year promises to be even better than the last.
One of the biggest draws of Renton City Retro is the lineup of special guests who will be in attendance. If some of you with families are looking at this and wondering how a Burlesque show is part of this, the show is split into two sections: A typical awesome retro video game expo and swap and an after-hours party type thing,
If the latter sounds like a bunch of people coping with their mortality in unhealthy ways to you, then just get the cheap tickets.
The video game part is a lot of fun and definitely worth going to.
