I was shocked and saddened to learn of the emailed bomb threats and death threats against the Brewmaster’s Taproom and its owner. The Taproom is a family and dog-friendly venue that embraces diversity in our community.
Per the Renton Reporter, “The bomb threats were sent to Brewmaster’s owner Marley Rall via email and included an extreme homophobic rant against the storytime event as well as death threats toward several named individuals and the Renton Police Department. The email also claimed that the surrounding area needed to be evacuated because there were “enough fertilizer bombs there to make the Oklahoma City bombings look like a firecracker.”
I served as a public official in Renton for 28 years, and I know these felonious, frightening and cruel threats are antitheses to the widespread feelings and values of our loving, caring Renton community. I’m hoping our Renton Police are successful in tracking down the source of the threats, and I’m also hoping the threats did not originate from within our city.
Marley Rall deserves our appreciation for her steadfastness and courage as a business owner and caring member of our community, in the face of these malevolent, despicable threats.
Love to Marley for championing the Renton LGBTQIA community. The Brewmaster’s Taproom is not just about beer and munchies; it’s a sanctuary of loving acceptance, and Marley is a trailblazer in carving out such tender safe spaces. And let’s not forget the Queens who keep the legacy of resilience alive and sizzling. They’re teaching all our kiddos that love always wins.
Drag Queen Story Hour is so important for kiddos. It’s not just stories and glitter – it’s a break-free zippy moment for the little ones to explore beyond the traditional and often rigid upbringing many of us grew up with. By hearing these stories from our fabulous drag queens, kids get the chance to vibe with all the colorful gender possibilities out there. They see it’s a whole spectrum of beautiful colors.
Every Drag Queen Story Hour is a testament to that fight, reminding us that we have loads and loads of love to share, and no amount of hate can dim that sparkle. So, here’s to more stories, more love, and more glitter. Stay fab! 🌈✨📚👑
Hey Randy, big props to you for taking that hateful comment down. We don’t need that negativity here, especially when we’re talking about love and acceptance. 🙌 As for the whole “grooming” thing, let’s be real – every kiddo out there is OUR kiddo. Whether we’re parents, neighbors, teachers, or just peeps in the community, we all have a role to play in showing them the vast, colorful world out there. We gotta ensure they get all the info, experiences, and love, so they can make informed decisions as they grow. School, libraries, Drag Queen Story Times – they’re all just platforms for that exploration.
Honestly, not all children get the acceptance and understanding they deserve at home. And that’s heart-wrenching. So, if we can offer them a lil’ bit of that love and acceptance, show them they’re valued and celebrated, why wouldn’t we? Let’s not limit our kiddos to a monochrome world when there’s a rainbow waiting for them. Every sprinkle of love we spread helps cultivate a more accepting future. ❤️🌈
Monochrome world?
The world where we have children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. We are the people who will be going to the stars.
They are not all “your kids”.
I am not a fan of drag for kids, but bomb threats are not okay.
