After a two-year break from public office, my wife Cathy and I feel that Renton City Council could benefit from my experience again. Today I filed as a candidate for Position 7.
While Renton faces several new and vexing problems, the solutions will ultimately come from collaborative problem solving and hard work as we learned in past decades. I’ve powered through many tough challenges with five Renton mayors and dozens of Renton Council Members in the past, and together with our City employees, residents, businesses and community partners we successfully positioned Renton as a thriving, vibrant, inclusive community where people want to live, work, play and learn.
If Renton voters put me back in office, I’ll look forward to working with residents and city leaders again to help get Renton back on the healthy and desirable path we all want for our city.
There is a lot of interest in this year’s races. It’s the first time I’ve ever seen seven candidates jump into a single Renton race, as I and six others have done for position number 7. It’s also unusual to see every incumbent challenged– usually one or two Renton positions will go unchallenged if the incumbent is getting the job done effectively.
This adds up to a lot of great candidates, and I appreciate all of them for their commitment to Renton and their interest in serving the public. I’m looking forward to getting to know those that are new to Renton campaigns. Some candidates will get into office or win another term in this election, and any that don’t will be well-positioned for future runs.

Excellent
Please let me know if I can help.
Great idea. You have our vote. Good luck.
Any idea if or when a public meet and greet or debate may be planned?
That would be awesome. I’m familiar with a few of the people running and they’re good people.
I’m familiar with one person that’s running and he’s a toxic Seattle socialist that makes even Kim look good. One of Camen Rivera’s buddies.
Pay really close attention to Carmen. She’s building a coalition of current council members and trying to get new ones on board. Once she has four solid votes, Renton becomes Seattle.
Ah, Carmen. Our own little hater. Did you know that she won’t allow LGBT LEO’s to take part in the Pride Parade?
A true hater. Ironic that she lives for free in her daddies home, him being a disgraced Seattle Officer and all.

Anybody but Kim.
None of her fellow council colleagues have endorsed her. That tells you *everything* we need to know about her ability to work with others to do the business of the city.
She endorsed Renton’s explicitly “Abolish and Defund the Police” candidate for office.
She voted to *keep* Puppy Mills to keep selling in Renton.
She voted to let King County move Seattle’s homeless into Renton while not taking care of Renton’s own homeless citizens.
She didn’t even serve a year on our council before running for a higher office with more pay.
The last was definitely a mixed blessing, while we would have gotten her off of the City Council, putting her on the County Council would have affected both Renton and King County.
And it would have knocked off Reagan Dunn. You have to keep one Republican around so that when citizens complain about crime, taxes, and shitty roads, you have one of them to blame.
Be really careful. There a crazy socialist running. Not like a really liberal Democrat, but a full on pants on fire Sawat-grade Socialist. The kind that Democrats also hate, but they keep them around for the votes but it backfires now and then.
KKV missed at least 50% of her committee meetings in 2020. She spend most of the time “protesting” outside City Hall about almost “everything” and “playing to the media”, instead of attending meetings. And in 2021, again, she missed most meetings because she was campaigning for King County Council. She gets paid to serve Renton, the minimum she can do is to attend meetings. No wonder 6 people are running against her.
Darn. She not even doing the job she’s getting paid for.
Thanks for running Randy!
Greg
You have our support Randy!
This is awesome. I’m our town is learning to push back on leaders who are damaging our community and that over six people stepped up to challenge Kim. Thank you Randy for offering all of us an alternative and I look forward to the general when I’ll have two good candidates to chose from.
Where’s SummerBoi?
Oh, that’s right. The crazy left is split into two teams and they hate each other.
I guess word got out that KKV is BSC (bat shit crazy). I hope we don’t end up with someone worse than her. Just do us a favor if you win: please don’t get wrapped up in neighborhood-specific concerns from NIMBYs. I’ve had enough of the Lower Kennydale crowd’s entitled antics. See: current rezone request of three underutilized parcels.
Best of luck!
