I drove up Sunset from the Landing this evening, and pulled into the left turn pocket at the intersection with Edmonds Ave. While I waited for my green arrow, I noticed a northbound driver on Edmonds making a right on red, from the left lane. (There is a dedicated right lane for right turns, but he was not using it for his right-on-red.) Unfortunately for him, he also didn’t check his left side carefully enough, because a car was coming up Sunset straight at him while he made his improper turn. The driver of the approaching car had to slam on his brakes to avoid a collision. Rather awkward that the driver slamming the brakes was one of Renton’s Finest, out on patrol in his police cruiser. Yep, the errant driver cut-off a policeman, and nearly caused a serious accident. Ouch.
A flash from the police light bar made it clear it was time to do some explaining. My left turn arrow illuminated by then, so I don’t know how the story ended.
That’s impressive. Bad day is right….
Seems to me it was a good day for the other drivers. Who cares about the crappy driver, he/she deserves what they got. SKH
Yes
I love it when a plan comes together!!!!
It seems like there is never a police officer around when idiots do this sort of thing and you always say “I wish a cop had seen this”
Re: Yes
I have to admit… that is how I felt 🙂
