Thank you readers for coming back to my blog in large numbers and making it worthwhile for me to keep delivering unique local content.
Everybody that visits is anonymous to me unless they explicitly leave their name in the comments or tell me in some other way that they’ve visited, so I’m only reporting numerical trends. Long-time readers will remember that 15-20 years ago this blog was the number one place to come for in-depth Renton information, and at the peak I was getting thousands of visits per day. I’m pleased to share that in my first month back to actively blogging, I’ve again had thousands of “unique active users,” but just not all on the same day. You are a fast-growing audience, so maybe soon it will be thousands each day. (You are also staying a little longer on average each time you visit, and hitting more pages.) I’ve heard many of the visitors are public officials, and at least two former council members have been leaving signed comments, adding more expertise to the dialogue. These overall results exceeded my best hopes for engagement.
I want to especially thank the many people in the community that encouraged me to get back into writing. Several of you promised me I would get a large readership. You were right, and I was wrong.
Please keep your ideas and comments coming. You can leave them anonymously if you choose. Your commented ideas contribute to everyone’s understanding of Renton and show the variety of legitimate perspectives we hold. Your comments also can contribute to collective problem-solving, and they frequently bring up new topic ideas for me. After 28 years of being a “your political insider,” there’s no limit to topics we could cover. Thank you!
Excellent! I’m glad you’re writing again!
Thank you for jumping back in. It’s nice to have a place to talk about thing that are important
Randy,
If you could put The Brewmaster’s Taproom’s Drag Queen Story Time on the calendar, we’d love you forever!!
It’s good fun for the kiddies, and it’s good for all of us.
Taking children you know to read books with Drag Queen Sylvia O’Stayformore is a positive way to introduce the kiddos to gender identity and gender expression. This can help them understand that gender is not necessarily binary and show them many ways that people can be gender fluid.
Ant the book and stories are FUN!
It’s been proven that spending time in a structured gender play environment encourages children’s acceptance and advocacy for transgendered and other marginalized folks.
Thank you Randy!
Why do drag performers need to perform in front of young children?
Yes, thank you! I will add the Brewmaster’s Taproom Drag Queen Story Time to the calendar.
Drag Queen Story Time is positive experience for children, helping to foster an appreciation for diversity and creativity and can help to build confidence and self-esteem, as well as encourage a love of reading and learning.
It has no connection to grooming or other forms of abuse. Instead, it is a valuable opportunity for children to learn, grow, and have fun in a safe and welcoming environment.
Not a fan as a gay man myself. It’s like you are going out of your way to prove every negative stereotype of us being groomers by going after other people’s kids.
Can you please give me the specific time and dates for upcoming events and I’ll add them to the calendar. Thanks!
