There is a great story about the new Seahawks Renton training center on the Seahawks web site today. ( Thanks to those of you who forwarded this to me today)
UPDATE: For those of you who like spirited debate, the comments on this item are mostly about helicopters and neighborhood code enforcement
helipads
Hey Randy, why no update re the vote last monday which allows helipads on lake washington? It was a hot topic and word needs to get out.
I said it here first. The city allowed Mr. Conner to cash in some of his chips. This is exactly why I left Renton. A certain councilperson can now buzz around Renton along with the rest of the highschoolers.
I don’t get what you are saying.
I clarify it for you. This councilperson should have asked their selves if flying in a private helicopter, from a private residents, is an approved function from residential properties. I hold council people to a higher level of code awareness than most. While I stand by my opinion that this activity is unecessary and adds a certain degree of danger to the nearby neighbors, who now have no choice in the matter. Other than to move, if they don’t like it.
Why are most on the council seated with a background in local businesses, rather than most being a sample of everyday employees?
It was easy to see how this council gave Mr. Conner his helipad back.
As far as I’m concerned with the councilperson in question, they can go party with Mr. Conner without fear of looking inappropriate. They once again can join the ranks of being able to buzz around Renton anytime of the day or night. No I’m not jealous. If I had the money Mr. Conner has, I would park the thing at the airport and leave my neighbors out of it. Spoiled brat that he is.
And Now For Something Completely Different…
Thanks for the Seahawks link Randy. I was wondering when they were going to show up here in the neighborhood. So does the City have any welcoming event planned for their arrival on August 18? It’s a great opportunity for some positive press for the Seahawks and for the City of Renton. A Chamber ribbon cutting? A mayor and Council welcoming speech on the practice field? Denis giving Holmgren the key to the City? A Renton flag on their new flagpole? (if they have one) Cheney and Kirkland’s loss is our gain…how about a Renton police escort for the moving vans as they move down 405 (that would make the news!). Looks like a good chance to have some fun and get in the news (even national news if it’s done right).

PS: I can hardly wait to hear KJR change their lead-in to “Live in Renton”
